StatusLane Docs

Everything you need to set up and manage your professional status page in minutes.

Getting Started

StatusLane lets you create a public status page for your product in under 5 minutes — no YAML, no infrastructure, no engineers required.

1

Create an account

Go to https://statuslane.online and click Get started free. Enter your email address and we'll send you a magic link — no password needed.

2

Create your status page

After logging in, click New page and fill in:

  • Product name — shown in the header of your public page
  • Slug — your page URL, e.g. myapp.statuslane.online
  • Description — optional subtitle shown below the name
3

Add your components

Select the services you want to monitor (API, Dashboard, Webhook, etc.) or add custom ones. You can reorder them later by drag-and-drop.

4

Share your status page

Your page is immediately live at yourslug.statuslane.online. Share it with your users or add a link in your app footer.

Components

Components represent the individual parts of your product that you want to communicate status for — API, Dashboard, Webhooks, CDN, etc.

Status levels

OperationalEverything is working normally.
Degraded PerformanceThe service is up but slower or partially degraded.
Major OutageThe service is down or completely unavailable.

Changing status

In the dashboard, click the menu on any component and select the new status. Subscribers are automatically notified by email when the status changes.

Reordering

Drag the handle on the left side of any component to reorder them. The order is reflected on your public page.

Free plan limits

Free accounts can have up to 3 components per page. Upgrade to Pro for unlimited components.

Incidents & Maintenance

StatusLane has two types of events: Incidents for unplanned issues, and Scheduled Maintenances for planned work. Both have a severity level and a timeline of updates.

Opening an incident

Click Open incident in the dashboard, fill in the title, severity, an initial update message, and optionally select affected components. The incident appears immediately on your public page and subscribers are notified by email.

Scheduling a maintenance

Click Schedule Maintenance to create a planned maintenance window. Set the scheduled start and optional end time, write an announcement message, and optionally select affected components. Subscribers are notified immediately, and the public page shows a blue banner before the maintenance begins.

Severity levels

MinorSmall degradation, workaround available.
MajorSignificant disruption affecting many users.
CriticalComplete outage, all users impacted.

Affected components

When opening an incident or scheduling a maintenance, you can select which components are affected. These appear as pills on the incident detail page and in the dashboard, helping users understand the scope of the issue.

Posting updates

Click Update on an active incident to post a progress update. You can change the status at each update (Investigating → Identified → Monitoring → Resolved). Each update notifies subscribers by email.

Incident history & SLA

Your public page shows the full incident history for the last 90 days and SLA uptime percentages for 30, 60, and 90 days — calculated from resolved incidents only (maintenances don't count against uptime). Each incident also has its own permalink, e.g. yourslug.statuslane.online/incidents/abc123.

Embed Badge

The embed badge lets you show a live status indicator anywhere on your site — in your footer, docs, or app. It updates automatically.

Installation

Copy your snippet from Settings → Embed badge and paste it into your HTML:

<script src="https://statuslane.online/embed/your-slug" async></script>

The badge is injected inline, right after the script tag. No extra CSS needed.

Caching

The badge script is cached for 60 seconds with stale-while-revalidate, so it's always fast and always reflects your current status.

Pro feature: the embed badge is available on Pro and Agency plans. Upgrade to unlock it.

Email Notifications

StatusLane automatically emails your subscribers whenever something changes on your status page.

How subscribers sign up

Visitors to your public page can enter their email and click Notify me. They receive a confirmation email — only confirmed subscribers receive notifications.

When emails are sent

  • When a component status changes (Operational → Degraded, etc.)
  • When a new incident is opened
  • When an update is posted to an active incident
  • When an incident is resolved

Unsubscribing

Every notification email includes an unsubscribe link. Subscribers can also visit your public page and re-subscribe at any time.

Custom Domain

Host your status page at status.yourcompany.com instead of yourslug.statuslane.online. Available on Pro and Agency plans.

Setup steps

1

Enter your domain

Go to Dashboard → Settings for your page and enter your custom domain (e.g. status.yourcompany.com).

2

Add a CNAME record

In your DNS provider, add a CNAME record pointing to cname.vercel-dns.com. The exact values are shown in the Settings page after you save your domain.

3

Verify the domain

Once the DNS record has propagated (usually under 5 minutes), click Verify in the Settings page. SSL is provisioned automatically.

DNS propagation

DNS changes typically take a few minutes but can take up to 24 hours depending on your provider. If verification fails, wait a few minutes and try again.

Pro feature: custom domains are available on Pro and Agency plans. Upgrade to unlock it.

FAQ

Is the Free plan really free forever?

Yes. The Free plan has no time limit. You can use StatusLane with 1 page and 3 components at no cost, for as long as you need.

What happens to my subscribers if I downgrade?

Your subscribers are never deleted. If you downgrade from Pro to Free, existing subscribers remain, but you won't be able to add new ones beyond the 100 limit.

Can I change my slug after creating the page?

Yes. Go to Settings → General and update the slug. Note that the old URL will stop working, so update any links you've shared.

Can I have multiple status pages?

The Free and Pro plans include 1 status page. The Agency plan includes unlimited pages, ideal for agencies managing multiple clients.

Is there an API?

A public REST API is on our roadmap. For now, all status updates are made through the dashboard.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Go to Dashboard → Billing → Manage subscription & invoices. You can cancel anytime — your Pro features remain active until the end of the billing period.
